Matea Uhlik Vidović, 27.10.2016.

Transparency International (TI) Hungary will monitor preparations for the construction of the final stretch of motorway M6, connecting Hungary and Croatia, under a pilot project launched by the European Union. Under the EU’s “Integrity Pacts – Civil Control Mechanism for Safeguarding EU Funds” pilot project, TI Hungary is monitoring compliance with commitments made in Integrity Pacts by contracting authorities and economic operators bidding for public contracts to abstain from corrupt practices and conduct transparent procurement processes. TI is monitoring 17 projects supported with EU funding in 11 member states.

Construction in 2018
The tender for planning the 20 km section of the motorway is expected to be called by the end of 2016, said Róbert Nagy who heads the National Infrastructure Development Company (NIF). The winner will have to produce a plan for construction and obtain permits until the end of 2017, after which a tender for construction can be called. Construction could start in the second quarter of 2018 and the stretch could be inaugurated in 2020.
