Romania’s railway company ‘CFR Infrastructura’ will renovate the existing railway line between Bucharest’s main train station Gara de Nord and Odaile station in Otopeni, and will build 2.3 km of new track to the Henri Coanda International Airport. The passengers will be able to get from Bucharest’s Gara de Nord to the airport in just 18 minutes.

To be complete in 2018
The project also includes a temporary station and a moving walkway to the airport. The total investment will amount to EUR 88 million and the work should be completed in April 2018. One of the main reason of a new track is the UEFA European Championship (Euro 2020). Bucharest will host four football matches and as the metro line will not be ready in time, the local authorities are now considering an alternative.
