100 million euros for public transport

The city of Osijek, situated in Croatian region Slavonija, has got a green light from European Funds – 100 mil euros for a new tracks and trams. In the first phase of modernization and development of public transport, old kilometers of tracks will be repaired as well as pebble surface replaced with a concrete cubes. There will be a new contact network with three substations. In the second phase a new depot will be built, the urban tram network will be expanded.

The plan for the next year is to have low-floor buses in Osijek and in two years a low-floor trams. The tram route would include the Central Cemetery, Josipovac and from Bikare to Zeleno polje. This is a big ‘Masterplan’ for Osijek and will be accomplished, said the Major Ivan Vrkić. The plan provides a better integration of traffic in the city and its surroundings. 
Everything will be paid with European money, non-refundable 85 per cent investment with which the quality, safety, reliability and punctuality of public transport will be on a higher level.
