The calling of tender was announced by the Hungarian National Infrastructure Developer Inc. to build a new bridge over the Danube between Slovakia and Hungary. The new crossing will help a lot for the transport- and heavy traffic, because nowadays the lorries have to take a 53 kilometers or a 180 kilometers long devious route to pass the Slovakian border at Vámosszabadi or at Parassapuszta. The arch will be the second largest bridge of Slovakia after the Apollo bridge in Pozsony (Bratislava).
Hungary and Slovakia applied with a corporate plan for the project, however the coordinator of the investment is going to be Hungary. According to the plans, the construction is going to start in 2017 and the bridge will be inaugurated in 2019.
