Restauration of Selzthal tunnel

The invitation tender is open for the repair of the Selzthal tunnel on the Pyhrn motorway A9. The Pyhrn A9 is a major north-south axis in Austria. It takes you (as a continuation of the A8) for a distance of 230 kilometers from the junction before Alp cross at Sattledt via Graz all along to area on the border with Slovenia, where it goes into the Slovenian Motorway A1. The Pyhrn Motorways in Austria runs through Alps by 2 two-lane tunnels:  the 5,400-meter long Bosruck tunnel and the 8,320-meter long Gleinalm tunnel. The longest tunnel on the motorway is the 10-kilometer long Plabutschtunnel under Graz and its outskirts. Currently, the only tunnel which will pass through the steps of the modernization is Selzthal tunnel.

The twin-tube Selzthal tunnel is located in the section of "Bosruckstrecke". Examining the 965m long East tunnel it was an initial examination, and the next inspection was for the 1.037m long West tube. By tunnel testing all the surfaces of the main tunnel, the portal and entrance buildings, the niches, the transverse shock and the road were examined and documented in the form of a plan mapping and a comprehensive report. Furthermore, the elm drains were inspected by a camera inspection. Contract considers the construction works and new electromechanical equipment for two tunnel tubes and in the North and South tunnel portal areas, to achieve the applicable provisions of the Road Tunnel Safety Act (STSG) and the other directives related. Duration of the contract is 18 months from award. The client is Austrian ‘Asfinag’ motorways operator.
